Leidy Torres is a senior research assistant for the youth development program. Leidy received her BA in Psychology from Temple University. She is passionate about mental health, early childhood education, foster care reform, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Prior to joining Child Trends, she worked as a K-5 teacher in North Carolina through Teach for America (TFA). While in TFA, Leidy became involved with their DEI efforts. During her second year in the corps, she became a community cadre member helping to plan, organize, and co-facilitate monthly PD sessions in the realm of DEI and classroom management. While in college, Leidy was involved with various programs and organizations, including JumpStart, Valley Youth House, and the nSoro Foundation. Leidy is devoted to advancing research in hopes of helping to improve the lives of the people in the communities she served.
