Debbie Stenoien

Proposal Specialist, Minneapolis, MN

Debbie Stenoien is a proposal specialist and is responsible for independently leading the proposal preparation and submission process. In addition, she collaborates with research, communications, contracts, and finance staff to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of proposals from kickoff to submission. This includes developing work plans and timelines for research staff, leading kickoff meetings to discuss internal deadlines, and reviewing proposal materials to ensure compliance and accuracy. Debbie also communicates with external clients to share pre-proposal questions, submit proposal packages, and request feedback upon award announcement. Her other responsibilities include support to project teams through the creation of budget trackers, developing strategic internal documents, and managing the proposal analysis and project description database.

Prior to joining Child Trends, Debbie served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Botswana working in a capacity building role for a small non-profit organization. Her work focused on HIV education, the prevention of gender-based violence, and care for orphans and vulnerable children. Debbie extended her service to work in the US Embassy, Gaborone, as a project specialist for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) to assist in coordination of the national HIV response.
