Michael is a research assistant for Child Trends in the education research area. In this position, he supports various research projects throughout Child Trends. His interests include the achievement gap, school choice, charter schools, the experiences of Black and Latinx students, and educational equity. Prior to joining Child Trends, Michael interned with the New York State Education Department, where he focused on policies regarding English language learners, and served as a research assistant in Yale’s Sociology Department. He also helped low-income high school students apply to college through his involvement in the nonprofit Matriculate. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and a certificate in education studies from Yale University.
