Children and Environment

A child’s environment—whether physical, social, or ecological—plays a critical role in their well-being. From understanding social determinants of health to supporting children impacted by pollution or catastrophic weather, Child Trends is dedicated to connecting the dots to give parents and policymakers the information and tools they need to ensure that our environment enhances the lives of this generation and those that follow. Partner with us to conduct rigorous research, create evidence-based solutions, inform families and policy, and ultimately improve the world we are stewarding for our children.

Through projects like the Climate Resilient Parenting project, we translate environmental science into local TV news programming and social media content to equip parents with the knowledge and tools they need to raise resilient children.

Building on this work and other environment-related projects, Child Trends connects children to nature, expands land-based healing for Indigenous communities, and empowers parents through actionable guidance.
