Brianna Carrier

Project Management Specialist

Brianna Carrier is the project management specialist for the National Early Care and Education Workforce Center. She is Mohawk, Turtle Clan, enrolled on the Six Nations Reserve, and was born and raised in Niagara Falls, N.Y. She graduated from Syracuse University with a Master of Public Administration (MPA), from the University of New Mexico with a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and received her bachelors in both policy studies and geography and a minor in Native American studies from Syracuse University. 
 
Brianna has experience in public finance and management, project management, performance management, process improvement, community engagement, disability and language access, education policy, and Federal Indian policy. Prior to joining Child Trends, Brianna was an executive in the City Manager’s Office for the City of Bakersfield, CA where she led high-level programs including starting the City’s first performance measures, supporting the development of the City’s $700 million annual budget, managing the redistricting of City Council wards following the 2020 Census, and serving as the designated Title II ADA Coordinator and Title VI Coordinator. 
 
Brianna’s most meaningful work to date was early in her career when she taught 1st, then 2nd grade in a Bureau of Indian Education (BIE) school on the Navajo Nation. Being in the classroom with her students and her traditional beliefs in the next seven generations drives Brianna to create a better world for children.
