Because of her background in international relations and her lived experience as a first-generation immigrant parent, Yuko is very passionate about improving the health and social outcomes of immigrant and BIPOC children and families. At Child Trends, she is learning how early childhood development and public health overlap, and how important it is to raise awareness among practitioners and policymakers on the issues that affect both children and the early childhood workforce. At the intersection of early childhood and environmental health justice, she hopes to explore more about issues like exposure to environmental toxins in and around child care facilities and family-centered equitable climate change adaptation.
