2025: Practical Approaches and Solutions to Addressing Congenital Syphilis: This event spotlighted an innovative, statewide approach presented by Mallory Jayroe, the infectious disease epidemiology section chief and SET-NET coordinator from the Arkansas Department of Health. Participants gained practical strategies to help reduce syphilis and congenital syphilis in their communities.

2024: Strengthening Birth and Community Supports: This event convened community health workers, birth workers, health department representatives, and others to discuss rising syphilis and congenital syphilis rates nationwide. Featuring presentations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and MoMMA’s Voices, participants learned about clinical signs of syphilis, updated testing guidelines, and examples of community impact.

Building Relationships With Community-Based Organizations: This dynamic discussion highlighted the experiences of health departments that have successfully worked with community-based organizations. We brought together Atonbara Sowemimo from the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Margarita Rios from Maricopa County Community Health, and Lindsey VanderBusch from North Dakota Health and Human Services for a deep-dive discussion on the nuances of creating, sustaining, and strengthening relationships with community-based organizations to improve sexual health for local communities.
