Dan Cardinali has spent much of his career putting evidence to work so that all young people, especially those overlooked by public systems, can thrive. For nearly two decades he led Communities In Schools, scaling an evidence-based strategy that mitigated poverty's effects on learning and well-being for more than 1.5 million K-12 students and advancing integrated student supports in local, state, and national education policy. As President and CEO of Independent Sector, he championed measurable impact and helped win nonprofits' access to the Paycheck Protection Program. He co-chaired the K-12 Subcommittee of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics. A longtime Child Trends board member and former Vice Chair, he now chairs the Fetzer Institute Board and serves on the boards of The Bridgespan Group and Sojourners. He is a Senior Fellow at PolicyLink and the M.J. Murdock Trust and a Senior Advisor at the Stand Together Foundation.
