Research Scientist II

Jing Tang, PhD, is a research scientist in early childhood development at Child Trends. Her research focuses on families’ access to child care, the child care workforce, child care quality, and quality rating and improvement systems (QRIS). Prior to joining Child Trends, Jing worked at Delaware Stars for Early Success. Her work examines the factors related to child care quality, especially within family child care settings. She also has experience with online survey design. Jing was an Office of Planning, Research, & Evaluation Early Care and Education research scholar from 2019 to 2021. She led studies using the 2012 National Survey of Early Care and Education to answer questions about parental child care searches, disparities in the child care workforce, and the experiences of home-based child care providers. She earned her PhD in human development and family sciences with a concentration in early childhood education from the University of Delaware.
