Child Trends’ work on higher education focuses on understanding the learning and life experiences of those students for whom many of our nation’s colleges and universities were not designed. These student populations include parenting students, working students, first-generation students, and historically excluded students of color. Because of structural and systemic barriers, many of these students experience difficulty graduating and other challenges that negatively affect their well-being.
