Chantelle Dowsett, PhD, is a research scientist in early childhood development. She is passionate about using research-based evidence to develop and refine policies and programs to improve the well-being of families and children. Her work at Child Trends focuses on the effects of child care subsidies, licensing, and workforce development policies on families and children. Chantelle conducts research syntheses, evaluation studies, technical assistance projects, and formulates actionable and pragmatic recommendations to support state agencies in conceptual framework development and systems building initiatives.
Chantelle earned her PhD in human development and family sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. She has over 10 years’ experience examining features of quality in programs serving children from birth to pre-K and the association between children’s school readiness and later achievement.
