his page contains the meeting materials for the share stage of the AM-ME (adapted measure of math engagement) project. The essence of the share stage is working with your research partners to share findings. This includes deciding what, when, to whom, and how to share findings. Although researchers might already have ideas for how to share some findings (e.g., writing a peer-reviewed journal article to highlight specific findings), the key here is to listen to your research partners and support the outputs that they think would be most meaningful. Similarly, although researchers might do most of the writing/creation of some outputs, the key is to provide opportunities for your research partners to give feedback, if not ways to be more involved. You will notice that most of the meetings in this stage follow meetings from the analyze stage. That is because people often are moved to action after seeing the results.
Creating an output takes time, and a lot of work happens behind the scenes. For example, creating an infographic involves writing, graphic design, data visualization, copyediting, and more. You can find resources for those behind the scenes activities in the plan to share findings and turn findings into action pages. They go hand in hand with the meeting materials summarized on this page.
Helpful tips
- “How do we want to share our findings?” can feel like too broad of a question. Consider showing a variety of examples (e.g., infographics, videos, brief reports, professional development materials) to help guide this process. It is important to show a variety of examples so as not to bias the decision in a particular direction.
- It might be helpful to explicitly go over your project constraints (e.g., budget) during this stage.
- It might be helpful to address (the order of) authorship sooner rather than later in this stage, so that everyone has realistic expectations and commitments for what they signed up for.
Year 1 dissemination brainstorming (September 2023)
This meeting focused on getting the Research Group students’ and teachers’ input on the emergent categories of math engagement (e.g., How might they rename the categories? What might they want to move between categories?). Then, we brainstormed ways to share our findings from the first year of this project.

This meeting also covers the analyze stage of CEnR research because we asked the Research Group for their feedback on the emergent categories of math engagement.
Sharing results small group sessions 1-2 (October and December 2023)
In Fall 2023, we asked Research Group members if they would like to join small groups focusing on specific activities, one of which was focused on sharing results from the first year of this project. This small group met two times over the course of three months to discuss things such as authorship norms, what findings to share, who our target audiences are, and what formats we should use to share results.
Meeting length: 1 hour each

Dissemination drop-in meeting (January 2024)
This was a drop-in style meeting (we provided two virtual, one-hour time options) where we focused on asking for feedback from Research Group members on the slide deck we created with results from Year 1 of the project.
Meeting length: 1 hour
- Facilitator Guide: Share - Dissemination Drop In (January 2024)
- Survey Administration Plan: Share - Dissemination Drop In Plan for Survey Administration (January 2024)
Note: This meeting also covers the plan stage of CEnR research because we spent part of the meeting creating a plan for survey administration in February 2024.
Reflection & action planning, part 1 (March 2025)
The focus of this meeting was for Research Group members to reflect on what they have learned about math engagement over the course of the project and to begin turning that into action planning for changes that could be implemented in classrooms, schools, and at the district level.
Meeting length: 2 hours

Final survey results (April 2025)
In this meeting, we shared the final survey results with Research Group members and had them do a data walk activity. Through the data walk, we hoped they would interact with the survey results and share findings they thought would be important to share in our dissemination efforts.
Meeting length: 2 hours
- Facilitator Guide: Share - Final Survey Results (April 2025)
- Slides: Share - Final Survey Results (April 2025)
Note: This meeting also covers the analyze stage of CEnR research since Research Group members are making meaning of the survey results while also helping decide what findings we should share.
Reflection & action planning, part 2 (May 2025)
The focus of this meeting was for Research Group members to continue to reflect on what they have learned about math engagement over the course of the project and to continue turning that into action planning for changes that could be implemented in classrooms, schools, and at the district level.
Meeting length: 2 hours
- Facilitator Guide: Share - Reflection and Action Planning part 2 (May 2025)

Note: This meeting also covers the partner stage of CEnR research since Research Group members reflected on their experiences.
The Adapted Measure of Math Engagement Research Group includes six students (Antonio Chavira, Brianna Espy, Ryan Ombongi, Serrah Ssemukutu, Salma Ahmed, and Diamond Tony-Uduhirinwa), five teachers (Nathan W. Earley, Karina Mazurek, Kathleen Morgan, Karla Rokke, and Ashly Tritch), and five researchers (Marisa Crowder, Samantha E. Holquist, Diane (Ta-Yang) Hsieh, Claire Kelley, and Mark Vincent B. Yu). Researchers Alyssa Scott, Olivia Reyes, and Avalloy McCarthy also extensively contributed to this work. Bloomington Public School District leaders Betsy Hawes, Marcie Coval, Julio Caesar, and Rik Lamm provided support to this work. Jennifer Widstrand served as the project manager.
