How Staffing Patterns Shape Work Environments for Early Educators

Research BriefEarly ChildhoodJun 25, 2025

Early educators are critical to creating safe, high-quality learning environments for children in early care and education (ECE) settings. But these learning environments are also work environments for educators—and staffing plays a key role in shaping how supportive those work environments are. This is a product of the National ECE Workforce Center, a collaboration between Child Trends, Early Education Leaders at UMass Boston, the Delaware Institute of Excellence in Early Childhood at the University of Delaware, and ZERO TO THREE.
