This Adolescent Health Highlight presents statistical information about the extent, types, and patterns of adolescents’ use of illicit drugs; discusses their effects on adolescents’ health and well‐being; shares findings from research about factors that can help adolescents avoid substance use and abuse; and presents strategies for preventing illicit drug use among adolescents and treating those with drug problems.
