First 5 California Home Visiting Workforce Study

Early ChildhoodFeb 4 2021

The First 5 California (F5CA) home visiting workforce study aims to improve the state’s understanding of the characteristics of home visitors and supervisors; available program implementation supports for staff; and program needs for workforce recruitment, development, and retention. For this study, Child Trends conducted data collection with home visiting staff across California and developed a home visiting supply and demand mapping tool. Findings from the study and analysis of data in the supply and demand mapping tool are intended to inform policymakers and other stakeholders about the home visiting services that are provided and needed across the state. Child Trends will develop a set of policy recommendations based on findings from this study to support the state’s efforts to strengthen its home visiting workforce and create a coordinated workforce infrastructure.
