Disadvantaged Families and Child Outcomes: The Importance of Emotional Support for Mothers

This Research-to-Results brief takes a close look at the link between the emotional support that mothers receive—or do not receive—in raising their children and their children’s development. Results suggest that emotional support for mothers may serve to protect children from negative outcomes in both disadvantaged and advantaged families.
