Dominique Parris is a dynamic facilitator and curriculum designer with nearly a decade of experience advancing educational equity and youth development through program management and direct service work. As senior technical assistance specialist, she helps Child Trends support schools to create safe, affirming, and supporting educational environments.
After completing her M.Ed in Social Justice Education from the University of Massachusetts, Parris spent 3 years working directly with Washington, DC’s adolescent LGBTQ population at SMYAL (Supporting and Mentoring Youth Advocates and Leaders). Prior to joining Child Trends, Dominique coordinated HIV prevention and LGBTQ inclusion initiatives for DC Public Schools. As a curriculum designer and facilitator, she has trained more than a thousand education and direct service professionals on LGBTQ cultural competency, transgender students’ rights and bullying prevention across DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
