This brief provides an overview of relevant data, including teen crash rates and trends, licensure rates, seat belt use, and other risk factors associated with fatal crashes among teenagers. Also included are possible causes for the high rate of teens in fatal crashes, strategies states have taken to make teens safer, and some implications for policy and future research.
