Virginia Department of Social Services, Division of Family Services, Post-Adoption Project

Child WelfareSep 15 2022

Child Trends is providing research services to the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) on an in-depth look at the post-adoption experiences of adoptive parents and adopted young adults in Virginia. Our findings will help improve post-adoption support services in Virginia. The goal is to have high-quality post-adoption services and supports available to adoptive families throughout the Commonwealth to help them stay together and thrive.

Over the next year, Child Trends will:

  • Conduct an online survey with adoptive parents in Virginia, whether or not the family is still together
  • Conduct interviews with adoptive parents and with young adults whose adoptions were not successful

This project will only succeed with input from adoptive parents and young adult adoptees in Virginia!

Adoptive parents: Please participate in an important Virginia Department of Social Services study! Your input will inform the services and supports available to adoptive families in Virginia.

If you would like to take this 20-30 minute survey, please contact VDSSsurvey@childtrends.org

Child Trends will work with VDSS to invite young people for interviews.
