Michael McCoy, M.A., is a native of Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Wake Forest University with dual degrees in Spanish and History before beginning his career as a high school teacher in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. He earned a master’s degree in School Leadership and Administration from the University of North Carolina in 2003 and relocated to the Washington, D.C. area in 2004.
Michael has served as an urban school leader in the D.C. Public and Public Charter Schools for over a decade. He is passionate about improving the learning outcomes for all children regardless of their background, ethnicity or socioeconomic status.
He brings this desire and a wealth of experience to his work here at Child Trends. Outside the office Michael enjoys being a husband and father to three children ranging in age from six to twenty-two. He reads for professional growth as well as enjoyment and travels when time (and budget!) permits. He is currently considering a return to graduate school in order to receive a doctoral degree.
