As the proposal and compliance assistant, Laura assists the proposals team with drafting CVs for new staff, documenting CITI training, pulling project descriptions, maintaining proposal databases, monitoring RFP interest, and scheduling bid meetings.
Prior to joining Child Trends, she taught elementary school for two years at a children’s home in Honduras through Bilingual Education for Central America (BECA). She worked with many children who were victims of trauma and abuse there. Laura loves Spanish and Latin American culture and hopes to return to the region again. She is passionate about using education as a tool to empower children and the impact that being a member of a marginalized population has on youth. Laura graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in business administration and a minor in community development, where she was involved in organizations that focused on racial relations and female education. In her spare time, Laura enjoys volunteering, exploring new cities, dancing, and working on her Spanish.
