National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments

Healthy SchoolsDec 29 2016

Child Trends has served as a partner for the U.S. Department of Education’s school-climate-focused technical assistance center since 2010. The Center helps K-16 educational settings provide safe and supportive learning environments, including addressing school engagement, mental health supports, and violence prevention efforts. Child Trends helps provide training and technical support on (1) development, planning, and administration of school climate and needs assessment surveys; (2) selection and implementation of evidence-based programmatic interventions; and (3) preventive strategies. As part of our work for the Center, Child Trends championed the development of the School Climate Resource Improvement Resource Package, and web-based resources on resiliency (see also Child Trends’ blog on the subject of resilience).
