"Best Bets" to Promote Quality Platonic Peer Relationships:
Promote Residence with Biological Father

A review of research findings, based on longitudinal NLSY79 data, shows that living in a father-absent home is associated with a greater likelihood of adolescent antisociality (Mott & Menaghan, 1996). This strength of this association appears to increase with the addition of a stepfather to the family.
