"Best Bets" to Promote Postsecondary School Attendance and Attainment: Discourage Early Fertility/Parenthood

Borus and Carpenter (1984) found no difference in college attendance of high school seniors based on whether they had a child. However, having a child by age 22 was associated with decreased likelihood of college completion by age 30 in one study (Adelman, 1999).
