Educationally Disadvantaged Older Youth: Quality of Employment |
|
|
|
One way of measuring the effectiveness of job
training and assistance in job search and placement is through job
quality. Some evidence indicates that employment programs helped youths
secure higher-quality jobs-that is, jobs with higher pay and more fringe
benefits. Job Corps youths had jobs with higher pay and slightly more
fringe benefits, such as health insurance, paid sick and vacation leave,
and retirement benefits, although they were not employed in significantly
different occupations than youths in the control group (JC1, JC2).
