Finally, there are mixed reviews on whether employment programs influence
drug and alcohol use. The Job Corps program shows no significant impact on
alcohol or drug use. JOBSTART, on the other hand, does have a sig nificant
impact on the use of drugs (4 percent of the program group compared to
almost 6 percent of controls report using drugs at the time of the
evaluation) (JS2).
