In comparison to control group:

- Program participants were more likely to be attending a two-year or four-year post-secondary school one year after the end of the program.

- Program participants showed no difference in college enrollment/ attendance rate.

Best bets for improving college attendance rates:

- High quality mentoring and academic tutoring and educational assistance.

Multivariate, longitudinal studies suggests that most of the individual family, and school characteristics found to be positively related to graduating from high school are the same as those that are related to attending college.  See High School Graduation section.

In addition, the following has been found to be related to college attendance:

- Curricular rigor and credits earned in high school.
