The studies that looked at test scores before and after the program
found improved scores in two programs and mixed impacts in another.
HST, a tutoring program, increased reading test scores over time
and also had a positive impact on word recognition and spelling test
scores. STEP was found to have
no impact on standardized test scores in the long-term report, but in the
short-term, the program had positive effects on reading and math test
scores.
