Type of Evaluation: Outcomes Monitoring

Objective: To assess whether the Youth Leadership program content is effective and sustainable. Also, to monitor Futures for Children's goal of keeping students in school and having them graduate high school and move on to college.

Impact/Outcomes: This is the first year that Futures for Children in implementing these assessment tools, and results are not yet available. However, Futures for Children Annual Report 2002 reports that 95% children mentored by Futures for Children are promoted or graduate from high school (30% percent of Native Americans nationwide drop out of high school). Thirty-five to forty percent of Futures for Children high school graduates continue on to college or other institutions of higher learning, including vocational programs.
