Project/Stars.htm

10,000 students in 49 Multnomah County schools 6th, 8th, and 10th grades Please click here for more information on this evaluation.

Type of Evaluation: Experimental.

Objective: To measure knowledge about sexuality and attitudes toward sexual abstinence among teens who had attended the STARS program.

Impact/Outcomes: Treatment and control groups' responses were not significantly different on the eight knowledge items at Time 1. At Time 2, responses on seven of the eight knowledge items were significantly different in a positive direction for the treatment group. The participation rate of schools (22% treatment group, 11% control group) may mean the sample is not representative of target students. Student participation was 75% at both treatment and control schools. Of the final sample of students, 57% were in the Portland Metro area.

No fee.
