Mission/Goals: Girls Inc. is a comprehensive human service organization specializing in services for girls, young women, and their families with particular emphasis on those in at risk situations. Girls Inc. is dedicated to addressing the unique needs of girls through advocacy education and direct services including the development of one to one mentoring relationships. The evaluated Girls Inc. national program, Friendly PEERsuasion, to prevent substance abuse and change substance abuse behavior among middle school girls, is not offered in the Philadelphia and South New Jersey area. Several other Girls Inc. national programs are in Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, including Project Forward, Project Self, School Sisters, Project Bold, Project Step, Services to Children in their Own Homes (SCOH), and (GirlSmart).
