Type of Evaluation: Outcomes Monitoring.

Summary of Available Evaluation Information: The Bridge Project operates directly from sites within public housing developments. The program aims to end the cycle of poverty through comprehensive services for children and adults that promote education. The three public housing developments where the Bridge Project currently operates are classified as "extremely poor" by the Denver Housing Authority. 73.1% of the children in these neighborhoods are on the free/reduced lunch program.

During the 2003-04 school year, students enrolled in Bridge's after school tutoring program were assessed in reading at the beginning and end of the school year. On average, students increased their reading level by almost one grade level during this time. Additionally, youth participating in the summer program were significantly more likely than youth in a matched comparison group to increase their reading skills.
