Type of Evaluation: Quasi-Experimental.

Objective: To examine whether providing after-school programming improved students' academic achievement, regular school-day attendance, and behavior compared to students who did not attend after-school activities.

Impact/Outcome Findings: Each of the measures of attendance was associated with higher percentages of regular school-days attended and fewer behavior referrals made. The duration of attendance measure showed increased academic performance: those who participated in the after-school programs for two or more years had significantly higher math, reading, and writing CSAP scores than both the one-year program participants and the members of the control group.
