Summary of Available Evaluation Information:
tru 2 u is a substance abuse and HIV/AIDS prevention program for teens and their parents. Teens gather to learn about issues that are important to them, such as drug abuse, sex and other risky behaviors, and parents gather to learn how to discourage their children from engaging in these risky behaviors. An art activity, facilitated by a professional artist from Music & Performing Arts at Trinity Cathedral is introduced in the second phase. At present, an evaluation is underway. A research team from Case Western Reserve University's Department of Family Medicine will examine whether the program has any influence on postponing risky behavior in teens.
