Type of Evaluation: Outcomes Monitoring

The evaluation summarized here is one of several evaluations conducted by East End Neighborhood House. This evaluation focuses on child outcomes in Project Seed (one of several programs run by the East End Neighborhood House). Project Seed targets third and fourth grade students and families.

Objective: To determine end-of-year outcomes for students in the Project Seed program.

Impact/Outcomes: There were no conclusive trends or patterns with regard to academic grades. Project Seed students increased proficiency in reading and writing however they did not outperform their non-participant counterparts. Participants reported a loss of trust in their teachers however overall participants reported having appropriate study routines as well as having areas in the home for study. Participants also reported having a stable, supportive family and home life and feeling relatively safe in their home environment.

Vouchers are used from the county so many pay a copay. Most families are covered 80-85%
