Mission/Goals: The goal of the Youth Program is to help youth develop self-esteem, self-expression, independence, responsibility, health and emotional well-being by providing social, educational and recreational services. It provides a safe place where youth feel they belong, socialize under supervision, and develop their leadership skills. The program provides comprehensive services including recreational activities, after-school drop-in services, education, tutoring sessions, computer lab, socialization, leadership, field trips, special events and community service.

Type of Evaluation: Outcomes Monitoring.

Objective: To assess effects of the program activities on participants.

Impact/Outcomes: All students in all nine classes showed improvement in gross motor skills. About 20% of participants enrolled in athletic programs at school after participating in Alta House classes. About 90% of program participants in 2003 returned to the program in 2004. Almost 25% of students increased their involvement in the community activities.
