Mission/Goals: MITS is a non-profit organization that focuses on changing the lives and brightening the futures of a diverse group of at-risk Atlanta youth through participation in dance training and performances that teaches them life management skills that will enable them to become contributing members and leaders in the community.

Summary of Available Evaluation Information: This program completed an internal feasibility study in 2003. MITS has developed outcome objectives for each of its programs. The program evaluation includes obtaining high school records. The internal assessment system is based upon individual improvement. The pre- and post- test is based upon physical skill, teacher surveys, and internal records. Approximately 90% of teens involved in the Apprentice Corporation go on to college or vocational schools, 30% continue to work in leadership positions with MITS.

Notes: Participants are 85% African American, 11% Caucasian and 4% Hispanic; 34% are male and 66% are female; The majority of the young people served by MITS are considered at-risk because of unfavorable circumstances in their lives. Twenty-five percent live below the poverty line.
