GOAL serves approximately 300 girls a year Grades 5-12

Type of Evaluation: Non-experimental.

Summary of Available Evaluation Information: GOAL conducts internal outcomes monitoring by testing participants before and after program completion. To assess the effect of the GOAL programs, approximately 100-150 children and their parents complete surveys annually. The surveys cover a variety of outcomes related to social and emotional development. Overall, although findings were limited, they tended to be very positive and GOAL is included here as a "promising program."

Notes: GOAL's programs include: 1) One week summer camp; 2) Wilderness Week (backpacking trips); 3) Mother/Daughter Weekends; 4) Follow-up Weekends during year; 5) Programming for Atlanta Girls School; and 6) Girls LEAD - an entrepreneurial leadership camp for 6th & 7th graders. GOAL is currently changing their approach to partner their services with existing programs. They have or will partner with the following organizations: KIPP schools, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA, and some public middle schools.
