#MilitaryKids Twitter Chat on Risks and Resources for Military Families with Young Children
Please join us for a Twitter chat on the risks facing, and the resources available to, military families with young children. There are more than 500,000 children under the ages of six being raised in active duty military families. Many of these children have had one or both parents deployed in active war zones during the past decade.
In Home Front Alert: The Risks Facing Young Children in Military Families, Child Trends examined the special circumstances characterizing the lives of young children in military families. These children are especially vulnerable when they experience high levels of stress and trauma, as the effects can continue well after their parents’ military service ends.
This Twitter chat will enable those who work with and care about military families and young children to connect with each other, and learn more about the challenges and risks facing these populations and best practices and resources for helping them. Military family experts will be on hand to answer any questions chat participants may have.
