Carol Emig has spent her career working at the intersection of public policy, programs, and research related to children and youth. Since 2006, she has been President of Child Trends.
Natalia Pane is responsible for ensuring the effective management, strategic growth, and quality of research at Child Trends. She directs a research staff of approximately 60 professionals from a variety of disciplines and oversees the research infrastructure.
Frank Walter serves as Child Trends’ Vice President for Strategic Communications. In this role he directs the organization’s branding and communication with media, policymakers, researchers, nonprofit organizations, and community organizations.
Karen Calloo is responsible for financial management, budgeting and forecasting, internal and external financial reporting, and oversight of the information technology function for Child Trends. She directs the finance team and provides vision and leadership for both the finance and information technology functions.
Ms. Skinner is responsible for providing contractual management and support from the project proposal phase to close-out. She directs and oversees the contracts function, ensuring contract terms and conditions align with objectives and reduce exposure for the organization.
Charity Lewis-Powell has over 14 years of professional experience in administration. She has worked with real estate investment trusts and nonprofit organizations in the legal, management, and verification and accounting departments.
Olivia Carter has over eight years of customer service experience. She has been a personal assistant and also served as the sole administrative support for a small business. Olivia uses her organization skills to keep Child Trends running smoothly. She keeps track of facilities’ needs and also provides meeting support.
Michael Admassu has over four years of experience in accounting. He is assisting the overall accounting process as well as the proposal and budget development process. He is a recent graduate of McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
Angele Akitani has over 14 years of professional experience in accounting and finance. She has worked with government contracting and for nonprofit organizations, and she specializes in GL accounting and financial statement analysis.
August Aldebot-Green joined Child Trends in March 2013, bringing several years of experience in communications and professional writing and editing for child-focused nonprofits. As the communications manager, August manages client projects and writes, edits, and designs a range of communication materials, including e-newsletters, research briefs and reports, infographics, news releases, blog posts, and more.
Lauren Epps joined Child Trends in February 2015 and provides contractual support for the organization. Lauren is responsible for developing and executing a variety of contractual documents including contracts, subcontracts, subcontractor awards, teaming agreements, memoranda of understanding, letters of intent, and nondisclosure agreements for programs funded by federal state and private sponsors.
Anique Downes joined Child Trends in December 2015 and provides contractual support for the organization. Anique is responsible for assisting with process development and implementation.
Marie-Anne Nguyen has over 10 years of professional experience in accounting and finance. She has worked with nonprofit organizations on federal and private grant reporting and grant budget development, in addition to other general accounting duties.
Alicia Torres is the Director of Communications at Child Trends. She works with the communications team to develop and implement strategic communications plans and programs to promote Child Trends’ research findings to intended audiences, and to build visibility for Child Trends leadership role in bridging rigorous, reliable research findings to the needs of practitioners and policymakers.
Alana Ward joined Child Trends in July 2014 and serves as senior manager, health communications and policy. As project director of the HHS Office of Adolescent Health’s (OAH) website and communications contract, Alana is responsible for project management, content development for the OAH website, communications outreach to grantees and OAH partners, and social media coordination.
John Lingan brings writing, editing, and management expertise to a variety of projects at Child Trends, specifically the Strategic Communications team. As a Senior Writer and Digital Media Editor he helps establish and realize communications goals for both Child Trends and its clients, with an emphasis on multimedia products including podcasts and video.
Terrance oversees the news bureau, including such things as tracking and recording media coverage, researching media lists and reporters for outreach, and responding to media calls. Terrance develops and posts content for the Child Trends social media platforms as well as for some client social media work. He also handles logistics for webinars.
Kate Maloney Williams works as the proposal coordinator in the Contracts, Compliance & Administration Department at Child Trends. Ms. Williams’ responsibilities include coordinating pre-award and post-award activities, reviewing proposal bid packages for quality assurance, conducting prospect research, financial and programmatic reporting, record keeping and database management, and mediating external communications with funders.
Samantha works as the Proposal and Contracts Assistant in the Contracts, Compliance & Administration Department providing support for the both the Proposal Coordinator and the Grants and Contracts Specialist.
