KRISTEN E. DARLING-CHURCHILL
Research Analyst M.P.P., American University Ms. Darling-Churchill, a former early childhood specialist, is a member of the Education and Data Development team. Her first two years with Child Trends were served with the American Institutes for Research, Education Statistics Services Institute (ESSI-Stat), coordinating the publication of America’s Children, an annual indicators report detailing the status of children and families in the United States.
Currently Ms. Darling-Churchill works across several program areas – Education and Data Development, Early Childhood Development, and Indicators – providing both substantive contributions and project management support. She supports: efforts to develop positive indicators for adolescents; indicator report development utilizing NCES standards; reviews of early childhood assessments and screeners scrutinizing measures of reliability and validity; investigations of child care, Head Start and pre-kindergarten collaborative program delivery; and reviews of measures of family-sensitive child care as an indicator of quality. Her background and interests include child care and education policy, early childhood education and care programming, early childhood workforce issues, and family poverty and income security.
