JENNIFER MANLOVE
Program Area Director & Senior Research Scientist Ph.D., Sociology, Duke University Dr. Manlove has worked on multiple research projects examining both antecedents and consequences of teenage sexual activity, contraceptive use, pregnancy, and childbearing. She is the principal investigator for three NICHD-funded research projects, conducting research on the association between adolescent and young adult sexual partners and relationships and the risk of unintended pregnancy (Contraceptive Use Patterns among Teens and Young Adults), the role of families, individuals, relationships and communities in nonmarital childbearing and subsequent union formation (Nonmarital Childbearing: Social Policy & Union Formation) and factors associated with the timing and circumstances of subsequent fatherhood (Subsequent Fatherhood). Dr. Manlove also currently conducts research on adolescent romantic and sexual relationships, male involvement in family planning decisions, and on the Title X family planning program. She has also been involved in several projects that profile effective pregnancy prevention programs, including after-school programs, programs for middle school adolescents, programs that have been effective at delaying sexual initiation and programs with a parent involvement component.
