HOPE COOPER
Vice President for Public Policy B.S., Education, Indiana University Ms. Cooper joins Child Trends with more than 15 years of public policy experience. Most recently, she served as a senior program officer at The Pew Charitable Trusts, where she designed and managed public policy initiatives within Pew’s national health and human services program area. Ms. Cooper spent ten years on Capitol Hill and held senior policy positions, including on the Senate Finance Committee, where she was responsible for legislation and oversight of the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program, Medicaid, and other income-related health and social service programs. During her tenure on Capitol Hill, Ms. Cooper steered multiple pieces of legislation through the policy process, from introduction to final passage, including nursing home reform measures and new federal health benefits for children with disabilities. Ms. Cooper has also worked as an independent consultant and spent one year in a senior government relations position at the national headquarters of the American Red Cross.
